In the unlikely (hopefully) event that your group requires the assistance of rescuers, for whatever reason, would you know which agency or agencies would come to your aid? This may be important to know from the standpoint of having the proper contact information available when needed. Alternatively, if your group is without means to call for assistance, perhaps your emergency home contact would like to know which agency to contact in the event your arrival is overdue, or an emergency is believed to exist.
A sampling of state rescue agency information confirms that each state deals with such emergencies differently, as shown by the following state agencies which are primarily responsible for search and rescue: Alaska (state police), Colorado (county sheriff), New Hampshire (fish and game), New Mexico (state police), New York (forest rangers), Maine (fish and game), and Vermont (state police).

In some instances, volunteer search and rescue organizations may be mobilized to provide additional assistance, or tasked to take primary responsibility for the rescue as warranted.
Something to think about when preparing your plan for those backcountry trips.
