BSA has a health and safety page on its website that should be of interest to all Scouting volunteers – “Safety Moments“.
BSA’s “Safety Moments“ are single page discussions of specific aspects of the Scouting program, intended to highlight significant risks associated with that aspect of the program.
As of February, 2023, there are 95 different “Safety Moments”, ranging from acute mountain sickness, ATV’s, cyber safety, depression, frostbite, horses, hypothermia, orthopedic injuries, risk assessment, shooting safety, stroke, trailer theft, transporting Scouts safely, water bottle rockets, and zip lines, to name but a few. Some Safety Moments include real life incidents meant to reinforce the import of the respective Safety Moment.
The information provided by BSA’s “Safety Moments” should be of value to all Scouting volunteers. Use it!
